This week has brought some true fall weather to the farm—our trees are beginning to turn colors, and the chickens return to their coop by 7:30 p.m. (very exciting for us, since one of our daily chores is to close the coop once they've gone inside for the night)! This September, our farm team set ourselves some challenges: no sugar for the whole month, and finding at least three things we're grateful for every day. While I admittedly completely failed the first challenge—Alison and Molly are doing much better at it—I've been really enjoying the second one.
Among all the blessings we've been counting, there's one in particular I've been thinking about a lot: how wonderful it is to be able to share food with others! It's such a fundamental way of caring for others, and knowing we're participating in the creation of good meals, good health, and good acts is a huge blessing of sustainable farming.
